New Beginnings!

Who we are and what we are doing:

My husband and I met each other while volunteering in Thailand in 2009. We were both working with Burmese refugees; he was teaching English to former Arakan soldiers who had fled the conflict to make a better life and I was working with children who had been rescued from areas of heavy fighting. We shared a love of helping people to help themselves during times of hardship.

Over the next few years we spent lots of time volunteering in orphanages in Nepal and knew that we would spend the rest of our lives working to improve the living conditions of children and families in the developing world. We have since sponsored children to attend post-secondary education, assisted orphanages in buying food, hygiene supplies, solar lights, water filtration systems, medicine, warm clothing, and in constructing covered areas to shelter the children during the rainy season.

Most recently, in February of 2016, we developed a program in partnership with our trusted colleagues in Kathmandu, that prevents child abandonment into the orphanage system. We help care for children of impoverished families so that they don't have to make the last resort decision to relinquish them to orphanages to meet their basic needs.

Our donations came from collecting small amounts from family and friends, as well as initially contributing $500 per month from our own wages for the period of time before the foundation was established. We decided to open this foundation in the hopes that we can raise enough to sustain these initiatives, as we are now have 2 children of our own!

100% of collected donations go straight to caring for the children. We have no overhead expenses and believe in transparency, integrity, and selflessness when assisting people in the developing world. Our goal is to give as many children as possible a strong foundation, so that they may become self-sufficient and in turn, give back to their communities. We believe that this is the way to make the world a better place.
