Fundraising call: Kabita's nursing education

The little girl in the photo is Kabita Tamang. I first met her when I was 23 at NWCSS orphanage, all smiles and hugs. She has since grown into a fine, intelligent young woman who has worked very hard to get into Shankharapur Nursing school in Kathmandu. She has been accepted but the tuition fee is $1,000USD per year and takes 3 years to complete. Needless to say, lacking a family, Kabita does not have the means to acquire the funds to finance her education, and thus, her path out of poverty in a country where jobs are scarce and the margin for failure is very thin.

The school has allowed her to begin her first week of classes, but she needs to pay the balance in the next few days. If you have made a new year’s resolution to help others or become more connected with those in need, please, please, please help us help Kabita. This will literally be saving her life. She has come so far from nothing and such a small gift from the land of plenty would make the difference between very different life trajectories for this beautiful soul. We raised the same amount of money for solar lights for the orphanage with small donations from lots of caring people.

There is no worthier gift than helping a motivated young person help herself. Let’s make Kabita’s dream a reality <3 You would want someone to do the same for your child if they lost you.

UPDATE: As of January 2, 2016 we have raised $1350 Canadian, enough for 1st year’s tuition! Kabita is very happy to be able to continue her studies at present. We will still need to raise $2,000 USD over the next 2 years for this lovely girl. Any further donations will be held in trust to cover the remainder of her fees. Thank you again! You have no idea how amazing this gift is.
